Chipotles, cocoa, cinnamon and spice kick up this tomatoey treat...add in what you like, ditch what you don't, make it your way then hitch on for the rest of Mandi's vegan wildride!  :)

How do you kick up your kidney beans? Do you like your chili meek and mild or sizzling with spice? Choose one...lazy loafers, spiky heels, badass boots or rad running shoes?  ;)

Happy Navy Bean Day!

Blogger of the Day: Kelly at vegga

Kelly is a supercrafty puppyloving vegan with a weakness for witfilled words and yumful muffins! She also knows how to spin a bean or two so she's a natural for Navy Bean Day!  :)

Navy beans are the humble cousins of Great Northern beans and cannellini beans, and are essential to our capital's legendary Senate Bean Soup, a simple mix of navy beans, onions and ham hocks. Wait...ham hocks?? Grrrr! Senatepeople, you should know better! And you should be healthier and more compassionate! I appeal to you today, on the anniversary of the passage of the United States Bill of Rights, please ensure the rights of pigs and all animals to live and breathe and dream free! Start by ditching the hocks and adding some hunks of tempeh to your soup instead! Or seitan or spuds or whatever floats your senatorial boats...veganize your beany tradition!

Today is also the anniversary of the establishment of Sequoia National Park...go hug a tree to celebrate!  :)

How do you eat navy beans? Have you been to Wash DC? What vegan eats did you find? Have you seen a sequoia?  :)

ps...I love synchronicity! Kelly just posted her Kale and Navy Bean Soup
Senatorpeople...now you have no excuse! This recipe is meant for you!  :)

Happy Pinto Bean Day!

Blogger of the Day: Alicia at Mangia, Gioia!

My dad often declared "Mangia, mangia!" when he made one of his spectacular Sicilian dinners...I think Alicia shares his loving and exuberant spirit. Alicia is a nationally licensed Registered Dietitian, Washington state Certified Nutritionist and Certified Holistic Life Coach...don't be intimidated by all those titles! She's supersweet and generous, creating recipes for  her readers, sharing helpful nutrition info and quickcooking videos, and of course lots of easy and delish recipes like her Pinto Hummus Pizza!  ;)

Pinto beans usually show up as refried beans in burritos or in dips, but Alicia gives them a different spin as a topping for a fabulous vegloaded pizza and in her proteinpacked BLT's. This is crazygood stuff!  :)

Name your favorite ways to eat pinto beans!  :)

Happy Anasazi Bean Day!

Blogger of the Day: Ginny at Vegan in the Freezer

The Bean of the Month is the Anasazi Bean! Sweet Anasazi Beans are named for the ancient Pueblo culture known for its fantastically complex dwellings such as Cliff Palace at Mesa Verde and the White House Ruins at Canyon de Chelly, for its intricate pictographs, and for its advanced agriculture. Everything about the Pueblo peoples' lives was dramatic...their homes, their climate, even these red and white beanbeauties. Sumptuously delicious in any Southwest or Mexican dish, they also make the best tasting burgers! Arizona vegan Ginny knows exactly how to handle them...her Crispy Anasazi Burgers are simply brilliant! All of her sandwichy stacks are irresistible...how does she create so much yumfulness in a bun? And there's more than just burgers, so drop in and see what she's got coming out of the Freezer tonight!  ;)

Don't miss Ginny's freezer pops!

Did you know you can...
Take full moon walks and study astronomy in Chaco Canyon, New Mexico
Climb to a ceremonial tower at Hovenweep, Utah
Go on special backcountry hikes at Mesa Verde, Colorado

Happy Beans n’ Franks Day!

Blogger of the Day: Hannah at House Vegan

The sweet rich smell of franks n' beans always reminds me of camping trips as a kid...superyumful foods cooked over a fire after daylong hikes are always stuffingly delicious! It's still one of my favorite summer funthings to do...hike, eat, camp, repeat.  :)

A trailblazer of vintage sophistication, Hannah is an oldfashioned wife in the most joyous sense! She happily revels in domestic life and takes pride in the time, work and love she puts into caring for family and home, and preserving creative arts like letterwriting with pen and paper. And baking up Disneypink poptarts. Yep, this girl has found her groove.  ;)

Are you a franks n' beans fan? Do you go camping? What are your favorite camping meals? Campfire bananas or s'mores?  ;)
