Happy National Hot Mulled Cider Day!

Blogger of the Day: Mary at Mitten Machen

After you're done bouncing around the pumpkin patch looking for a cute squash to carve, make a hefty pot of this hot spicy stuff and drink up! Mary knows how to make a wickedyumful mug of cider and more warming treats (and knitted mittens too!) because when you live in Maine you need to keep your inner fires deliciously stoked. Even if you're swimming in a heat wave now, save this recipe for those cold nights when it's just you, a movie and a thick quilt...and a plate of cinnamony cookies!  :)

Will you be visiting a pumpkin patch this season? What's your formula for the perfect warmup drink?  ;)

Happy Strawberry Cream Pie Day!

Blogger of the Day: Sara at Veggies For Real

Strawberryality...
• Strawberries are the only fruit with "seeds" on the outside...find more funberrybusting trivia and interesting info here.
• Always buy organic...non-organic strawberries are #2 on the list of produce with the highest levels of pesticide residue!
• In spring and summer, go local and buy from a friendly organic farm.  :)
• While fall is no longer peak strawberry season, organic strawberries are available all year, both fresh and frozen.
• Legend says that if two people share a double strawberry, they will share an enchanted love.  ;)

Sara hails from Madrid but she now delves deep into high science research in Denver. She's compassionate in all things, including her cooking...she revels in worldly vegan cuisines from Morroco to India to Thailand to Italy. This sweet strawberrylicious pie is based on a tart from her homecountry but it's much more cow and chickfriendly and superhealthy too!  :)

Have you ever shared a strawberry treat and found enchanted love?  ;)

A Happy Thanks!

A quick but sincere note of gratitude to allvegan East Side Ovens, home of the most squealingly yumful blueberry muffins on the planet...they provided me with a special order chocolate cake for a triple birthday celebration we are having this weekend. It was fabulous, rich and chocolatey with just the right cake/frosting balance, and it was devoured quickly by vegans and nonvegans alike. Many thanks to the ESO team...cheers!  :)
