Happy Jelly Doughnut Day!

Blogger of the Day: Allison at Vegan Mommy Chef

No, these aren't actual jelly doughnuts but they're waaay easier and so spinningly yumful!  :)

Allison's family has a few food allergies so many of her recipes are also soy-free, corn-free, flaxseed-free, nut-free and/or peanut-free too. I admire her ability to cheerfully juggle all those nutritional needs and keep her three smiley kids (and doodling hubby) happy and wellfed. Plus any mom who lets her kids wear their swimsuits on the outside of their pj's in the middle of winter just for the screaming fun of it, and then takes them shopping in those outfits just for more screaming fun, must be an allround crazycool genius of a mom.   ;)

What's your favorite jelly flavor? Do you like powdered sugar or frosting on your doughnuts? What else might be fun to stuff inside a doughnut?  ;)

Happy National Vegan Cheese Day!

Blogger of the Day: Abby at The Frosted Vegan

Waffles for dinner? Popsicles for breakfast? Abby mixes everything up in the most crazydelicious way! It's not easy being a vegan in a city known for racing sausages, in a state called "America's Dairyland", in a land where the football fans wear cheesehead hats, but Abby kicks carnivore butt with her crueltyfree recipes! I'd happily have one of everything on her inventive menu, but today, in honor of Vegan Cheeseheads everywhere, I especially want these...

Celebrate National Doughnut Week with Abby's extravagant rings!  :)

This gifted girl needs to open The Frosted Vegan Bakery! Until then relish the rest of Abby's recipes for more decadent deliciousness!

How are you celebrating Vegan Cheese Day? What's your fave way to eat cheese? Are you a nut for nooch? Have you rescued any cute cows lately? ;)

Happy National Doughnut Day!

Blogger of the Day: Keri at I Eat Trees

Keri's blog is a treasury of tried and true recipes. She shares her favorite vegan cookbook recipes and also creates her own original dishes...her cornbread is crazygood stuff and her peppermint ice cream reminds me of summer days hanging out at the cone shop when I was a kid. I loved those candied scoops of crunchycoolness!  :)

It's National Doughnut Day (yippee!) and it's also International Children's Day...do a good deed and make these splendid treats with your favorite kids to teach them that growing up vegan is the only way to go!  :)

Version 2, with Vegan Powdered Sugar

No doughnut pan? Buy your doughnuts at your local vegan bakery or buy them online!  :)

What's your favorite doughnut flavor? Have you ever made your own? Do you share vegan treats with little kids? How do you teach them that living the vegan life is the best?  :)

Happy National Doughnut Day!

Homer, we love you...but we do not love your lardy ways.
Please let little Lisa in the kitchen so she can teach you the Way of the Vegan Donut. Goopy glaze and all.  :)

Have Your Fill :)

Happy National Cream Filled Doughnut Day!
Filled doughnuts by the zillions are craved around the world...Bavarian Creams, Berliners, Bismarks, Bomboloni, Boston Creams, Éclairs, Koblihy, Long Johns, Pączki, Pampushky, Ponchiki, Profiteroles, Quesitos, Spurgos, Sufganiyot...stuffed with everything from jam to sesame paste to cream cheese...yes, even cookies!
Cream-filled doughnuts aren't really hard to make. Just make your favorite doughnuts and poke some holes. Use a pastry bag or snipped-tip ziploc bag to squirt in some pastry cream or frosting or whipped cream. Cover the hole with frosting or glaze...or just let the filling drip out and eat it like a messy little kid.  ;)
If you don't like cream-filled doughnuts, go crazy and fill them with whatever you like...

I'd love to try blueberry doughnuts with lemon filling. Maybe red velvet with cinnamon filling? Chocolate with almond liqueur filling? Chocolate with rainbow sprinkled chocolate filling? Barbecued Doughnuts with Melty Chocolate Filling? Yumza!
What would you fill in your doughnuts?  :)
