The smell of a loaf baking in the oven and a fresh warm slice with vegan butter or jam stirs up the best of memories for me...scenes of my grandma's well-muscled arms kneading the dough for holiday breads, or my dad patiently teaching me how to measure flour for brioche. Weekly trips with my mom to the old Italian bakery for an armful of paper-wrapped semolina loaves. Strolling into the very first Breadsmith on Downer Ave and reveling in all those heavenly breads, especially on blueberry cornbread day...sweet golden yumfulness!
For me, baking bread is like digging in the Spring garden dirt...you gotta get in there, muscles and all, and work in simple, quiet, patient solitude to create something purely out of love for it. It doesn't need to be perfect...just do it from the heart and share it if you can. Now roll up your sleeves, heat up the hearth and bake! :)

Nothing in the world like homemade bread! My granny used to make a loaf of bread EVERY day. It was irresistable!
