Pubs: Mosaic Meals: Bringing Vegans, Vegetarians, and Omnivores Together
Name a food that's good for your eyes, besides carrots. Try apricots! Bright, sweet and easy to eat, they're supergood for you too! Go organic if you can, including when you buy apricot jam, for an extra boost of wholesome goodness. :)
For those who don't like the fuzz, peeling apricots is easy...cut an X in the end, dunk in boiling water for a minute, lift them out with a slotted spoon and dunk them in ice water. The skin will peel easily. (It's the same way for peeling peaches and tomatoes.) Pitting them is easy too...slice and twist!
Janet's fruity float is a delicious way to dress up your apricots for a warm weather treat. Her site is fabulous fun...she pairs up her recipes with appropriate quotes such as...
“For me, the cinema is not a slice of life, but a piece of cake.” ~ Alfred Hitchcock, English film director, 1899-1980
“It’s true that I did get the girl, but then my grandfather always said, ‘Even a blind chicken finds a few grains of corn now and then.’” ~ Lyle Lovett, American singer and songwriter (1957-)
“Somewhere else the tea is getting cold. Come on Ace. We’ve got work to do!” ~ Doctor Who television show (1989, Survival: Part 1)
Her recipes are meant to please any palate and are perfect for entertaining. She addresses omnivores and vegans alike, seeking a common ground for everyone to enjoy. Her cookbook Mosaic Meals delivers dishes that will unite and delight all the diners at your table! :)
For her Apricot Float, Janet chose the quote “I began to cry a lot and she gave me apricots, kisses of the earth, fruits of the sun.” from Eva Rivas sings Apricot Stone. :)
How do you like your apricots? Have you tried making apricot jam? What's your favorite summer fruit dessert? :)
