Happy National Spaghetti Day!

Bloggers of the Day: Stacy and Keith at Vegan Fatty Boombalatty

Mention spaghetti and I think Sunday nights, movies and Mom's weekly meatball and pasta tradition. Every Sunday afternoon Mom would start a giant pot of her homemade pasta sauce, filling the house with the sounds and smells of sizzling onions and garlic and slowly simmering tomatoes and herbs. Next she expertly rolled her own meatballs and neatly dunked those in. Finally she fired up another giant pot on the stove, boiling and bobbing with pasta in one form or another. Somehow it all reached the point of perfection at the same moment. We'd haul out the TV tables, pop in a movie and Mom would hand everyone a generous plate of pasta and meatballs, sauce and parmesan. If it was spaghetti you'd get a fork and a big spoon. Some people twirl their spaghetti on the plate, some do it in the air...we were two-handed spoonspinners. The movie would start and the only other sounds you'd hear were twirling, slurping and going back for seconds.  :)

Okay, how can you not love a blog with the word "Boombalatty" anywhere in it? In addition to homey and filling international dishes, Stacy will happily spin spaghetti all day any day, so she and photo partner Keith are the perfect blogging team for National Spaghetti Day!

Do you like spaghetti with tomato sauce or white sauce or just a little olive oil? Are you a spoonspinner or platetwirler...or a scoop-and-slurper? Do you have weekly family food traditions? Did you ever have a nickname like Boombalatty?  ;)
